Arthropoda

Overview

Phylum arthropoda is the largest and most diverse in all the animal kingdom including insects, spiders, scorpions, and crustaceans. They are characterized by having bilateral symmetry, a complete digestive tract with organ systems, a chitinous exoskeleton, jointed appendages and body segmentation which allows for specialization of body regions. Arthropods inhabit all regions of the planet in both terrestrial and marine environments.
